(Original) I was so happy to have chosen Yoga Montanita at Casa del Sol to complete my 200 hour teacher training. The location is beautiful and the teachers are absolutely incredible. Cheryl Oliver, of Authentic Teacher Training in Scottsdale, led the program (alongside Tamara and Brady) and truly gave us so much in only 30 days. Cheryl is incredibly knowledgeable. Her teaching is rooted in her Ashtanga training and expertise. She is one of only 30 teachers in North America that teaches Vedic Chanting and she is a Sanskrit scholar! We started every morning learning the yoga sutras of Patanjali with careful attention to the sound of each Sanskrit syllable and with a meaningful discussion of the message brought to us by each aphorism. Cheryl has a tremendous ability to apply the ancient teachings to our lives today. It was always an incredible way to start each day. We learned how to plan a safe and effective vinyasa class. Cheryl and her team provide a lot of opportunity for collaborative learning. The teachers are focused on giving you exactly what you need. There is also an opportunity for you to teach your own public class. From this experience and through valuable, constructive feedback, I developed a lot of confidence to start teaching. The owner of the studio, Tamara is a very talented teacher and a huge source of support throughout the whole training. Public classes are offered in the evenings and I really enjoyed taking her classes as they were always challenging, super creative, and fun! I learned so much from her. Brady taught us all about Yin and the concept of opposite and complementary principles in nature. Yin is the soft, stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; yang is the strong, changing, moving aspect. Exploring both sides and finding the balance, proved so beneficial to my practice . Michelle and Jackson offer great Yin classes on the weekends. Beyond learning the asanas, I was introduced to yoga history, and was able find the true importance behind the daily practice. My favourite part of every single day was being able to watch the beautiful sunset with my fellow yogis. Class Del Sol is perfectly situated. You’re steps from a beautiful beach, amazing surfing, and the town offers lots of restaurants/bars/shops etc. The studio is beautiful and peaceful. The chef at Casa Del Sol satiates your tummy with delicious and healthy meals. Chef Allison of River Walk restaurant in Muskoka, Canada is truly amazing. Seriously, check her out, she’s a force in the kitchen. The program allows you to deepen your personal practice, gives you the tools you need to start planning and teaching effective classes, and allows you the opportunity to meet and share your journey with like- minded, beautiful yogis from all around the world.
